Quote
The STAR Center Management and Facility Staff would like to express their sincerest appreciation and thank all the tenants and their employees for their outstanding support prior to and during the shutdown. Without each tenant thinking through the impact and working with
We are pleased to report that the all maintenance activities were completed per the published schedule. Except for one Raytheon electrical feeder, all utilities and services have been restored to normal switched operations. There are a few outstanding electrical activities that will be completed by the contractor in January, but will not affect services to the tenants.
Several issues were identified, that if not for this shutdown program, would have gone undetected until a failure occurred at a likely very undesirable time. Finding these issues and being able to correct them continues to demonstrate the need for future scheduled large-scale shutdowns. A detailed completion report will be provided to all tenants and maintained on file to be used in planning the next shutdown scheduled December 2009. The STAR Center is committed to provide reliable utility services to our tenants and appreciates the significant sacrifice your business endures while allowing us to interrupt your operation for us to conduct these large scale maintenance activities in a planned manner. Thank you again and I hope your business is successful and prosperous in the New Year. Paul S. Sacco

A re-inspection of the noted deficiencies will be conducted in early March. The major comment common to most was the illegal use of extension cords. The STAR Center staff may be able to do the work, but there would be a service charge, just like hiring an outstand contractor. Use of an outside contractor is allowed. The STAR Center requests to be informed of the modification, to keep facility draws and panel schedules current.

Pinellas County announces closing of McMullen-Booth and Bryan Dairy Roads in May and June for three weeks each. Here is the announcement from the county:
Drivers beware: Two major Pinellas County roads - McMullen-Booth and Bryan Dairy - will close for a period this spring and summer to allow for rail line repairs.
Beginning May 19, McMullen-Booth Road - a major north-south route linking North Pinellas to the Bayside Bridge - will be closed for as long as three weeks just south of State Road 590. That's where the CSX rail line intersects the road. Traffic will be detoured along U.S. 19. Then, in mid June, Bryan Dairy Road - a major east-west route in central Pinellas - will be closed for as long as three weeks just west of Belcher Road at the rail crossing. Traffic there will be detoured along Ulmerton Road. Because access to side streets and businesses must be maintained, the only true closings will be at the rail crossings. Signs will encourage drivers to move to the detour routes well before the crossings. Because of the heavy traffic on the two roads, drivers will be encouraged to avoid the construction areas. "The theme will be pick alternate routes," said county transportation director Pete Yauch. "Don't necessarily follow the detour."
