What We Do
The Young – Rainey STAR Center, Science Technology and Research, encompasses 2,622,327 square feet of manufacturing and office space, strategically located on the western anchor of Florida’s High-Tech Corridor. Transformed from a former secure Department of Energy facility, this 96-acre industrial complex now houses businesses such as Raytheon Company, CVS/Pharmacy, Concurrent Technologies Corporation, Constellation Technology Corporation, Forensic Technology, Inc and the National Forensic Science Technology Center, among many others. Forty plus leading companies with a combined workforce of more than 1,500 employees interact synergistically in areas that include research and development, laboratory services, advanced manufacturing, technology and professional services.
The STAR Center enjoys on-site and regional partnerships with local colleges, universities, chambers of commerce, professional associations and the Small Business Administration in order to promote research, technology transfer, entrepreneurial expansion, and continuing higher education necessary to compete in today’s evolving workforce. Most importantly, the Center has partnered to support the region’s business accelerator for technology and manufacturing, the Tampa Bay Innovation Center (formerly STAR TEC).
